Head of Partnerships, Electricity Suppliers
We make flexible grid connections firm with a battery and the software that runs it, so sites get bankable power in months instead of waiting years for the network. Every one of those sites still buys its power from a supplier, and the battery behind the meter changes what that supply looks like: a different import shape, a battery that can trade whenever it isn’t holding reserve, and a customer who can grow before the network does. You’ll lead our partnerships with electricity suppliers, so the supply contract, the battery’s route to market and the customer relationship fit together, and suppliers can offer firm power to the businesses they already serve.
What you’ll do
- Build and run partnerships with electricity suppliers across the UK and Europe, from their business supply and flexibility teams to trading and risk.
- Shape joint offers: firm power on a flexible connection, sold with or through the supply contract, for the data centres, charging hubs and industrial sites that suppliers already serve.
- Set up each battery’s route to market: wholesale trading, the Balancing Mechanism and other flexibility services, through the supplier or alongside it, without touching the reserve that keeps the site firm.
- Agree the supply terms each site needs, from import shape, imbalance and export to how network charges pass through, with our engineers modelling what each term is worth.
- Turn supplier relationships into sites: find the customers who are stuck in the connection queue or outgrowing their connection, and take them from first conversation to signed project with our engineers.
- Work through the settlement and metering rules a battery behind the meter depends on, including half-hourly settlement and asset metering.
- Represent Neura with suppliers’ commercial, risk and credit teams, and in the industry groups where supply and flexibility rules are made.
What we’re looking for
- Senior experience, typically ten years or more, in electricity supply, trading or flexibility: at a supplier, utility, aggregator, battery optimiser or trading house.
- A record of closing commercial agreements with suppliers or utilities, such as supply, route-to-market, offtake or white-label deals, from first contact to signature.
- A clear grasp of how a business supply contract is priced, from wholesale shape and imbalance risk to network and policy costs, and how a battery on site changes each.
- Working knowledge of how flexible assets earn in GB: wholesale markets, the Balancing Mechanism, the Capacity Market and DNO flexibility, and the settlement behind them.
- Relationships with the people who run business supply, flexibility and trading at UK and European suppliers.
- Clear, concise writing: proposals, term sheets and contract summaries that commercial, risk and legal teams can act on.
- Useful but not required: selling to data centres or large industrial users; time on a supplier’s trading or origination desk; supply markets outside GB.
Who you might be
You might have run business supply, flexibility or origination at an electricity supplier, or built route-to-market partnerships for batteries at an optimiser or aggregator. You might have structured supply and offtake deals for large energy users. You know how a supplier prices risk, and how to fit a new kind of asset into the way it already works.
In your first six months
- A map of the suppliers that matter to us in the UK and Europe, and who decides on new products at each.
- Live conversations with suppliers, the most advanced on a joint offer for their customers who are short of power.
- A route to market agreed for the battery at our first sites.
- Supply and route-to-market terms that our customers and lenders accept.
What we offer
- Salary and equity.
- Hybrid working.
- A learning and development budget.
